EVERETT MICHAEL 'MIKE' SMITH, 58
Volunteer for Backstreet Mission

CENTER TOWNSHIP - Everett Michael Smith, 58, of rural Bloomfield, died at 3:49 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008 at Bloomington Hospital in Bloomington, Ind.
Born June 13, 1950 in Shelbyville, Ind., he was the son of William E. Sr. and Margaret C. Smith.
Mr. Smith performed volunteer work for the Back Street Mission and the homeless shelter in Bloomington.
He is survived by one daughter, Lisa M. Kahrig of Edwardsville, Ill.; 12 brothers and sisters, Allen Smith of Bloomington, Ind., William Smith Jr. of Bloomington, Ind., Sue King of Liberty, Ky., John Smith of Martinsville, Ind., Libby Jo Lowry of Bloomington, Ind., Jimmie Smith of Mooresville, Ind., Becky Groce of Freedom, Ind., Tracy Marsh of Monrovia, Ind., Joe Smith of Martinsville, Debbie Jo Williamson of Florida, Donald Catt of Florida, and Carla Catt of Florida; and two grandchildren, Derek Kahrig and Geyer Kahrig.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, James Ryan Smith; one brother, George Arnold Smith; and his step-mother, Rita Smith.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Stinesville Pentecostal Church at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008 with Brother David Jenner officiating.
There will be no public visitation.

FREDERICK 'RICK' HOVEY LYONS, 48
Logger for Blunk Logging in Gosport, Ind.

BLOOMFIELD - Frederick 'Rick' Hovey Lyons, 48, of Eastview Drive, Bloomfield, died at 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008 on State Route 57 South in Owen County, the result of an automobile accident.
Born June 22, 1960 in Bedford, Ind., he was the son of Hovey Frederick and Joy Kathleen (Mynatt) Lyons. His father survives. On Sept. 4, 204, he married the former Linny Renee Parrish, who also survives.
Mr. Hovey was a logger for Blunk Logging in Gosport, Ind.
Along with his wife and father, he is survived by three children, Bryan David Lyons of Owensburg, Rikki Rachelle Albright of Shoals, Ind., and Jessie Idell Lyons of Owensburg; stepchildren, Ashley Renee McIntosh, Brittany Nicole Major and Kenneth Kieffer Fielder, all of Bloomfield; three grandchildren, Madoriah Paige Brooks, Makenah Grace Brooks and Janna Alaine Albright; five sisters, Judy Root of Bloomfield, Cindy Cummings of Bloomington, Ind., Fritzi Breedlove of Springville, Ind., Jill Lutes of Bedford, Ind., and Kathi Robinson of New Castle, Ind.; and two half-sisters, Bessie Lyons and Minnie Lyons, both of Springville, Ind.
A Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008 at the Kentucky Ridge Baptist Church with the Rev. Erin Raper officiating.
Private graveside services will follow in the Dishman Cemetery in rural Springville, Ind.
There will be no public visitation.

EDMONTON, Ky. - Ellen Rose Hudson, 60, of Edmonton, Ky., and formerly of Bloomfield, died at 6:10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Ky.
Born Aug. 29, 1947 in Greene County, she was the daughter of John and Hattie (Williams) Pearson.
Ms. Hudson was a homemaker and former member of the Rebecca Lodge.
She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Hudson and Scott Hudson, both of Bloomfield; one daughter, Judy Kay Alton of Sullivan, Ind.; three grandchildren, Austin Hudson of Bloomfield, Alexander Alton of Sullivan, Ind., and MacKenzie Rose Goodwin of Sullivan, Ind.; her companion, Harlan Jenkins of Edmonton, Ky.; four sisters, Louise Hardisty of Lyons, Jewie Aulberry of Bicknell, Ind., Linda Collier of Bloomington, Ind., and Bessie Mathena of Linton; three brothers, Jackie D. Pearson, Bennie A. Pearson and Wayne Pearson, all of Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Verlin Pearson, Henry Pearson, and George Pearson; and three sisters, Melvina Whaley, Carrie Pearson and Lillian Ellett.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008 at the Lester Jenkins and Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Brother Ed Smith officiating.
Burial will be in the Tulip Cemetery in the Tulip Community.

LYONS - Dylan Andrew Fagg, the infant son of Stephen Andrew and Amanda Dawn (Stollings) Fagg, died on Aug. 7, 2008 at Knoxville, Tenn., shortly after birth.
Along with his parents, baby Dylan is survived by his paternal grandparents, Joyce and Roy Gardner of Lyons, and Donald and Dejah Barron of Jasonville; maternal grandparents, Greg and Terri Stollings of Lyons; paternal great-grandparents, John and Glenda Fagg of Arkansas, Donald and Linda Barron of Florida, and Jim and Helen Gardner of Switz City; maternal great-grandparents, Larry and Maggie Corns of Lyons, and Marjorie Stollings of Lyons; great-great-grandmother, Lorane Gardner of Jasonville; three uncles, Thomas Clements of Lyons, Donald Franklin Barron III of Sullivan, Ind., and Brandon Stollings of Lyons; and three aunts, Danielle Gardner of Lyons, Madison Barron of Jasonville, and Christin Stollings of Lyons.
He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandfather, Paul Stollings.
Graveside services were at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 11, 2008 at the Prairie Chapel Cemetery in rural Lyons with Larry Corns officiating.

ALTHEA 'GWEN' TIBBETT, 85
Retired Employee of the Social Security Administration

LINTON - Althea 'Gwen' Tibbett, 85, of Linton and formerly of Indianapolis, died on Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008 at Greene County General Hospital.
Born Aug. 23, 1922 in Lyons, she was the daughter of Lee A. and Road (Deckard) Tibbett.
Ms. Tibbett was an employee of the Social Security Administration, retiring in 1992. She was a member of the Central Christian Church in Indianapolis and attended the Litnon Church of Christ.
She is survived by one sister, Marlene Whitaker of Linton; one niece, Kathy Trump of Linton; three nephews, Garry Lacy, Greg Lacy and Brad Lacy, all of Linton; one great-niece, Stephanie Trump of Linton; and four great-nephews, Michael Lacy, Mikeal Trump, Zachary Lacy and Benjamin Lacy, all of Linton.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by one great-niece, Jennifer Lacy.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 11, 2008 at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton with Brother Jerry Carmichael officiating.
Burial was in the Prairie Chapel Cemetery in rural Lyons.

TIMOTHY JAY HELMS, 46
Repair contractor for Distinctive Homes

SWITZ CITY - Timothy Jay Helms, 46, of Switz City, died at 12:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008 at the Lyons Health and Living Center in Lyons.
Born April 27, 1962 in Greene County, he was the son Bobby Arthur and Janet (Vandeventer) Helms, both of whom survive. In 1983, he married the former Lisa Earle, who also survives.
Mr. Helms was a repair contractor for Distinctive Homes.
Along with his wife and parents, he is survived by two sone, Jason Helms and Justin Helms, both of Switz City; one stepson, Ryan Miller of Switz City; one sister, Angela Mowery of Indianapolis; two brothers, Bradley Helms of Plainfield, Ind., and Barry Helms of Switz City; and one grandson, Kaden Helms of Switz City.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008 at the Lester Jenkins and Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield with the Rev. Bill Beckelheimer officiating.
Burial was in the Hash Cemetery in rural Bloomfield.

HILDRED GENEVA (CAMPBELL) KENT, 83
1943 Graduate of Solsberry High School; Retired from RCA

SOLSBERRY - Hildred Geneva (Campbell) Kent, 83, of Solsberry, died at 8:52 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008 at her home.
Born June 25, 1925 in Solsberry, she was the daughter of Troy and Mary Geneva (Crane) Campbell. She was married to Paul Kent, who preceded her in death on Sept. 19, 1993.
Mrs. Kent was a 1943 graduate of Solsberry High School and was retired from RCA after 35 years as a group leader. She was a member of the Solsberry Christian Church and the Solsberry Eastern Star, as well as the Solsberry American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Leon and Mary Corbin of Washington, Ind., and Lane and Shirley Corbin of Solsberry; one stepdaughter and step-son-in-law, Carolyn and Charlie Barger of Deputy, Ind.; one stepson and step-daughter-in-law, Ted and Janice Kent of Solsberry; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two twin brothers, Ronald Campbell and Rodney Campbell; one son, Leonard Corbin; and one sister, Kathleen Cooksey.
A Memorial Service was at 4 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 8, 2008 at the Solsberry Christian Church with the Rev. Byron Williams officiating.
Burial was in the Solsberry Cemetery.
There was an Order of Eastern Star service on Friday.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.- Ruth Ellen Wade Chumbley, 71, of Bloomington, Ind., died on Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008 at her home.
Born July 14, 1937 in Martinsville, Ind., she was the daughter of Carus and Florence (Wagaman) Wade.
She was the Eastern Greene School Nurse. She was also a caregiver for Home Instead.
She is survived by three sons, Richard David Smith, William Leon Smith and Kenneth Wayne Smith; two sisters, Helen Branthafer and Priscilla Eastridge; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Harold Wade.
Graveside funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008 at the family plot of Flake Cemetery in Morgan County with the Rev. Norman Abel officiating.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the hour of services at the cemetery.

BLOOMFIELD - Audrey Gwen (Blaker) Norris, 87, of rural Bloomfield, died at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008 at Greene County General Hospital in Linton.
Born Dec. 21, 1920 in Greene County, she was the daughter of Winfield and Almira (Hash) Blaker. She was married to Orval C. Norris, who preceded her in death on Nov. 27, 1997.
Mrs. Norris was a homemaker and worker at Sarkes Tarzain in Bloomington, Ind.
She is survived by three sons, Dean Norris, James Norris and Paul Norris, all of Bloomfield; two daughters, Linda Sherrard of Austin, Texas, and Lois Frye of Bloomfield; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Bertha Helms of Bloomfield.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sons, Alan Baker, David Norris and Roy Norris; three sisters; and four brothers.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008 at the Lester Jenkins and Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield with the Rev. Arlen Pope officiating.
Burial will be in the Tulip Cemetery in the Tulip Community.

JOHN 'KEITH' CRANE, 84
Retired from NSWC Crane after 35 years of service

BLOOMFIELD - John 'Keith' Crane, 84, of rural Bloomfield, died at 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at the Bell Trace Health and Living Center in Bloomington, Ind.
Born January 16, 1924 in Solsberry, he was the son of John Edward and Blanche Mae (Bullock) Crane. He was married to the former Madge Marie Oliphant, who preceded him in death on July 20, 2001.
A veteran of the United States Navy serving in World War II, Mr. Crane was an ammunition specialist at NSWC Crane. He retired Jan. 16, 1981 after 35 years of service. He was also a member of the Solsberry Christian Church and the Solsberry Masonic Lodge 411. A member of the Solsberry American Legion Post 450, he was also a member of the Stanford Order of the Eastern Star.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Kent and Suellen Crane of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Louann and Eric Garrett of Mooresville, Ind., and Lisa and Ron Childress of Bloomfield; three sisters, Joann Haywood of Bloomfield, Laura Jean Hollingshead of Atlanta, Ga., and Mary Lou Corlett of Martinsville, Ind.; grandchildren, Scott and Martha Crane, Steven and Kate Crane, Eric and Jiyoung Crane, Kassie and Mark Johnson and Luke and Tina Childress; and great-grandchildren, Alex Crane, Abby Crane, Brooke Crane, Justin Crane and JD Childress.
He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008 at the Solsberry Christian Church with the Revs. Byron Williams and Erin Miller, as well as Stewart Cobine and Jim Weimer officiating.
Burial with Military Honors will be in the Solsberry Cemetery.

DR. KEITH M. BROSHEARS, D.D.S, 59
Dentist and Life Fellow of the American College of Forensic Examiners

LINTON - Dr. Keith M. Broshears, 59, died Wednesday, July 30, 2008 in Linton.
Born in Terre Haute on Dec. 14, 1948, he was the son of Dr. Kenneth & Geraldine (Macer) Broshears.
Dr. Broshears served as a Diplomat on the American Board of Forensic Dentistry and the American Board of Forensic Examiners, was a Life Fellow of the American College of Forensic Examiners and was a member and webmaster of the Indiana Society of Forensic Odontology/
He is listed in the Who’s Who in the World & Who’s Who in America, a member of the American Dental Association and the Indiana Dental Association. A member of the U.S Coast Guard, Dr. Broshears reached the rank of Captain and was also a Merchant Marine officer. He was a member of the Linton-Stockton Chamber of Commerce, and was associated with the First United Methodist Church of Linton.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts from DePauw University, graduated from Indiana University Dental School, and became a Doctor of Dental Surgery after attending the Indiana University School of Dentistry.
He owned and operated the Linton Dental Clinic for more than 30 years.
He is survived by his wife, whom he married Sept. 19, 1999, Ana Luisa (Lara) Broshears of Linton; his parents; two sons, Evan (Lindsey) Broshears of Bloomfield & Brian (Bobbi) Broshears of Linton; and three grandchildren, Trevor, Brandt, and Sydney.
Memorial Services will be held at the Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008, with the Rev. Doug Witt officiating.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4 p.m. until the time of service.

JOSEPH M. WILLETT, 71

JASONVILLE - Joseph M. Willett, 71, of Jasonville, died at 11:07 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute.
Born June 19, 1937 in Louisville, Ky., he was the son of Joseph M. and Bridget Lazarilla (Barneir) Willett. He was married to Mary L. Willett. The couple was married on April 30,1 955, and Mrs. Willett preceded her husband in death on Oct. 18, 2001.
Mr. Willett was a car salesman and an autobody repair specialist.
He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Myron Lamar of Jasonville; two sons, Tommy Willett of Paoli, Ind., and Jody Willett of Bedford, Ind.; one brother, Tom Willet of Tennesee; four grandchildren, Jonathan C. Lamar, Michael Lamar, Tom Willett and Sean Willett; and two great-grandchildren, Tommy Lee Willett and Ava Willett.
Along with his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Jeanie WIllett; and three sons, Donny Willett, Bobby Willett and James Willett.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008 at the McClanahan-Lee Funeral Home in Jasonville.
Burial will be in the Lebanon Cemetery in Midland, Ind.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Friday and from 9 a.m. until the hour of services on Saturday at the funeral home.

CAROL ANN PRELL, 65
Licensed Practical Nurse

JASONVILLE - Carol Ann Press, 65, of Jasonville, died at 7:20 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at her home in Jasonville.
Born April 6, 1943 in New London, Wisc., she was the daughter of Harvey and Constance (LaBeau) Brauer. On Aug. 3, 1976, she married George A. Prell. He survives.
Mrs. Prell was a Licensed Practical Nurse for 30 years, working at the Shakamak Nursing Center in Jasonville. She had previously worked as a visiting nurse in Milwaukee for many years.
Along with her husband, she is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Lisa and Brett Good of Coto DeCaza, Calif., and Angela Prell of Jasonville; one son, Michael Press of West Allis, Wisc.; three sisters, Mary Lou Zwitter of Ft. Myers, Fla., Jane Swartz of Speedway, Ind., and Nora Lee Brauer-Flavo of Homewood, Ill.; and four grandchildren, Lacy Press, Isabell Good, Sara Good and Jacob Good.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Mark R. Szews.
Funeral arrangements are pending at the Max A. Sass and Sons Funeral Home in Greenfield, Wisc. Local arrangements are being handled by the McClanahan-Lee Funeral Home in Jasonville.

MARTHA LOU (SPARKS) HASKETT, 86

SWITZ CITY - Martha Lou (Sparks) Haskett, 86, of Mulberry Street, Switz City, died at 2:10 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2008 at her residence.
Born May 15, 1922 in the Park Community of Greene County, she was the daughter of William and Lou (Wade) Sparks. She married Harley W. Haskett 69 years ago. He survives.
Mrs. Haskett was a homemaker and member of the Park Sunshine Club for 60 years. She was also a member of the Walnut Grove Church and attended Mansions in Heaven Church in Bloomfield.
Along with her husband, she is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Deborah Haskett of Mooresville, N.C.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marylin and Don Clayton of Linton, and Kay and Ron Frye of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Cornelia Street of Indianapolis; two sisters-in-law, Naomi Sparks of Bellaire, Ohio, and Edna Sparks of Bloomfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Estel Sparks, Bernard Sparks and Gaylord Sparks; and one grandson, Bradley Clayton.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at the Lester Jenkins and Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield with the Rev. Erin Raper officiating.

ELIZABETH MAY (TROWBRIDGE) BLAND, 86
Homemaker on the Bland Farm in Solsberry until 1993

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Elizabeth May (Trowbridge) Bland, 93, of Bloomington, Ind., and formerly of Solsberry, died on Monday, July 28, 2008 at Bloomington Hospital.
Born Aug. 14, 1914 in Delaplaine, Ark., she was the daughter of Rolla C. and Zelpha Judith (Andis) Trobridge. On Dec. 9, 1931, she was married to Ralph Bland. He preceded her in death on May 15, 1993.
Mrs. Bland was a homemaker on the Bland Farm in Solsberry and worked at the Bloomfield Nursing Home. She worked for Bloomington Hospital and RCA in the 1950s and 1960s.
She was a member of the Solsberry Christian Church.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Ronald Keith and Sherry (Culbert) Bland of Solsberry; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda Benjamin-Miles and her husband, Butch of Austin, Texas; one brother and sister-in-law, Clifford A. and Margaret Trowbridge of Martinsville, Ind.; five grandchildren, Douglas Eugene Bland of Solsberry, Dianna Lynne Hancock of Worthington, Dirk Randall Bland of Bloomington, Ind., Eric Kyle Bippen of Indianapolis, and Christine Kerry Peters of Kernersville, N.C.; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her husband of more than 61 years, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Kenneth Eugene Bland, on May 12, 2000; one infant son, Ralph Leon Bland, on March 4, 1932; one infant sister, Lola Fern Trowbridge; and three brothers, Charles J. Trowbridge, Leonard Trowbridge, and John Calvin Trowbridge.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2008 at the Lester Jenkins and Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield with the Rev. Byron Williams officiating.

Retired from General Electric; also worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone

BLOOMFIELD - Dola Long, 80, of rural Bloomfield, died at 11:40 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2008 at her home.
Born Sept. 6, 1927 in Greene County, she was the daughter of Douglas and Edith (Jeffers) Huffman. She was married to Donald Long, who preceded her in death on June 11, 1975.
Mrs. Long was retired from General Electric. She also worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone from 1949-1960. She was further employed at NSWC Crane.
A member of the Bloomfield United Methodist Church, she was a member of the Greene County Historical Society and the Greene County Landmarks Association.
She is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Doug Long of Bloomfield, and Tom and Rita Long of Bloomfield; one daughter and son-in-law, Debbi and Tim Smith of Tucson, Ariz.; and four grandchildren, Lindsey and Matt Dobson of Louisville, Ky., Patrick Jilbert of Louisville, Ky., Carson Long of Bloomfield and Mariah Long of Bloomfield.
Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at the Bloomfield United Methodist Church with the Revs. Kevin Raidy and Billy Ed Hostettler officiating.
Burial was in the Grandview Cemetery in Bloomfield.

LESTER 'GENE' WATKINS, 82
Veteran of U.S. Navy; Served in the Philippines; Former Greene County Commissioner and Surveyor

BLOOMFIELD - Lester 'Gene' Watkins, 82, of Bloomfield, died at 8:15 p.m. on Friday, July 18, 2008 at Bloomington Hospital in Bloomington, Ind.
Born March 11, 1926 in Bloomington, Ind., he was the son of Frank H. and Bessie L. (Bingham) Watkins. He first married the former Frieda Jeanette Sullivan, who preceded him in death on 1988. On May 6, 1989, he married the former Virginia McMurry, who survives.
Mr. Watkins was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in the Philippines during World War II. He was a Seaman First Class and was awarded the Victory Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal and the Philippines Liberation Ribbon.
A former Greene County Commissioner and County Surveyor, he was also a Democratic Precinct Committeeman.
Mr. Watkins was a lifelong farmer, and worked for the railroad. He also assisted with graves for the Lester Jenkins and Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield and drove a school bus for Solsberry and Bloomfield schools for 52 years.
He was a member of the Bloomfield American Legion Memorial Post 196, a former trustee of the Worthington Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Odd Fellows. He was also a member of the Elnora Conservation Club.
Along with his wife, he is survived by four daughters and two sons-in-law, Nancy and Sam Ferguson of Ellettsville, Ind., Najean and Todd Judy of Plainfield, Ind., Natalie Watkins of Bloomfield, and Nyla Rose Hamilton of Valdosta, Ga.; one stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Charles and Cheryl Bennett of Bloomfield; one brother and sister-in-law, Clyde 'Brownie' and Lila Watkins of West Lafayette, Ind.; two sisters, Delores Sullivan and Glapha Watkins, both of Elnora, Ind.; 10 grandchildren, Laura Kay (Watkins) Rose and her husband Steven, Jason Ferguson, Matt Ferguson, Penny Flythe, Jenny McDaniel, Derrik Judy, Alex Judy, Justin Bennett, Keith Bennett and Travis Roach; 10 great-grandchildren, Megan Ferguson, Jacob Ferguson, Tyler Ferguson, Taylor Ferguson, Samuel Ferguson, Travis Ferguson, Katie Flythe, Jake Flythe, Brittney McDaniel, and Bradley A. McDaniel; and one great-great-granddaughter, Mallory Ferguson.
Along with his parents and his first wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Nolan Gene Watkins in 1989.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at the Lester Jenkins and Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield with the Revs. Billy Ed Hostettler and Galen Judy officiating.
Burial with Military Honors by the Bloomfield American Legion Memorial Post 196 was in the Calvertville Cemetery in rural Bloomfield.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Calvertville Cemetery, in care of the funeral home.

JEFF A. RAMSEY, 46
Truck driver for Country Auto Parts

SPENCER, Ind. - Jeff A. Ramsey, 46, of Spencer, Ind., died at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2008 as the result of an accident on U.S. 231 North in Owen County.
Born Nov. 2, 1961 in Linton, he was the son of Ronald and Judy (Slaven) Ramsey, who both survive. On Oct. 17, 1985, he married the former Debbie White, who also survives.
Mr. Ramsey was a truck driver for Country Auto Parts and a member of the U.S. Army Reserve.
Along with his parents and wife, he is survived by two sons, Cody Ramsey and Corey Ramsey, both of Spencer, Ind.; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Robin and Jamie Miles of Bloomfield, and Rhonda Ramsey of Bloomington, Ind.; and his grandfather, Paul Ramsey.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Pearl Maxine Ramsey in 2001.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at the Lester Jenkins and Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield with the Rev. Raymond New officiating.
Burial was in the Newark Cemetery.

THELMA E. SEARS, 85
Homemaker; Co-owner of Sears Auction Service

WORTHINGTON - Thelma E. Sears, 85, of Worthington, died at 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 20, 2008 at Greene County General Hospital in Linton.
Born March 20, 1923 in Lyons, she was the daughter of James and Jessie (Haskett) Flynn. She married Raymond Sears, who preceded her in death on June 27, 1989.
Mrs. Sears was a homemaker and formerly worked for the Indiana Telephone Company. She co-owned Sears Auction Service and was a member of the Newberry Church of the Nazarene and the Worthington Garden Club.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Darrell Dunigan of Worthington; one son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Linda Sears of Worthington; five grandchildren, Timmy Sears, Tammy and Josh Harrell, Leon and Jodi Dunigan, LaRae Dunigan, and Darla and Rich Moore; and eight great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 14 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at the Welch and Cornett Funeral Home in Worthington with the Revs. William Pursell and Melvin Abney officiating.
Burial was in the Worthington Cemetery.
